The Blonde Prep

HELLO FRIENDS! Sorry about the insanely long absence of myself on this blog, it’s been a crazy few weeks. BUT I come back with an exciting announcement for you all! I got to get in contact and email with my blog idol (she’s pretty stinkin cool I promise) and do a little interview with her and ask her a few questions for my page! So let’s hop right into it!

1. How did you know you wanted to start a blog? Honestly, I didn’t. I barely even knew what a blog was when my best friend told me she wanted to make one, and so I did too as a little friendly competition just because I thought it would be fun. This was back in eighth grade, and I’ve been loving it since! I honestly never thought it would last more than a week, but I’m so glad it has 😉

2. What tips do you give for new bloggers? Be original, consistent, and creative.

3. Favorite fashion trends at the moment? Chic sneakers and skinny jeans. I’m all for simplistic ensembles!

4. Favorite hobbies that don’t include bloggingUhh… Devouring chocolate! Also, shopping obviously, exploring (I spend a lot of my Saturday afternoons exploring downtown), running, playing field hockey, just doing things with friends!

5. Do you see yourself blogging in the future? Yes. I’m probably going to head down some sort of different path with my blog in the future but I think the core of what I do now will still remain- at least I hope!

6. Why do you blog? This is a good question! I blog partly because I spend way too much time shopping online and this is a good excuse for saying I’m being productive (kind of kidding, not really), but in all seriousness, I blog because I absolutely love it. I love the ambiance and environment of sharing what I’m into, what I’m loving, what I’m doing, etc. in a way that I can learn more about others and the fashion and business industries and chronicle my life to look back on, too. It’s just a really cool big learning experience everyday.

7. tips on the perfect insta? Oooh.. tough. Here’s a post on how I edit my pictures, but when it comes to taking them I would say just try to stick to certain elements or colors that will compile your feed and go from there! You might notice on my feed, I tend to stick to blues!
So there is a few words from the snazziest blogger gal I know! Go check out here blog (here) and let me know whatcha think! Thanks Frannie for the interview! Have a relaxing weekend, summer is almost here!
xoxo, Allison

Happy weekend mis amigos! Spring is continuously making me happy and I’ve been searching the depths of Pinterest for the happiest spring tidbits! Although not all of them have to do with sunshine considering Nebraska weather is being quite moody lately with snow one day and 75 degrees the next…not complaining just curious. The rain has been oh so nice in the mornings because dark and rainy drives to school are my favorite thing in the world. throw in some John Mayer and *heart eyes emoji*! enough rambling and onto the good stuff:

Lemon Cake// Oh my oh my. I’m not a huge sweet tooth but gimme any type of fruity dessert and I’m all over it. Lemon has to be one of my favorite dessert flavors and this recipe looks heavenly

Hair Secret// I have pretty naturally wavy hair but I curl it pretty often when dressing up. I have both a curling wand and curling iron but do I whatsoever know the difference or which to use when? Ha! no. I can pretend I do all I want but it’s a 100% “uhh let’s just use this one today” type of decision! This post was mind-blowing to me and will totally be something to keep in mind from now on!

green dranks// so I’m not the HEALTHIEST gal considering girl scout cookies and popcorn are my best friends but I’m all about sneaking in greens when I can. My household is filled with big smoothie people so we LOVE to throw in spinach when possible (and when the little bro doesn’t notice). This recipe for a peanut butter chocolate green smoothie is filled with stuff you already have at home so try it out!

more dranks// spring warm weather means soon comes summer which means bring on the pool. these fruit infused detox waters are perfect to prepare or to get rid of the case of the sniffles I’m currently suffering from.

happy art// this free printable just makes me smile

Hope you enjoy these links as much as I do! Have a happy rest of your day!

work hard work harder

860c576b9a5b35b36f946710502430f5

I’ll say it a billion times. Junior year is a work of art. One day you think you’ve got it all under control and then the next night you remember that the night before when you were watching Gossip Girl for hours on end you should’ve been working ahead for something you’re now cramming on. been there. done that. plenty. of. times. (and plenty more to come I’m sure)

I’m a complete master of over-booking myself but being an oldest child it comes naturally. I have the type of personality where if something needs to get done I’m gonna be the one to get it done by myself right away without help and call it good. do it my own route. Which is where the whole over-booking thing comes into play as a little bit of  a detour. I’m a 100% perfectionist and try my hardest to give about 130% into everything i do. which can be really pretty difficult when I’m trying to put that much effort into 500 different activities, let alone school work, ha.

We live in a society where it’s school club meeting before school, during school you’re focused on getting into good colleges and doing things that improve yourself, after school you’re off to more activities and sleeping/eating/exercising should probably fit in there somewhere. Not to mention having a job and saving up for that fun money sucking place we so deem as college. Being focused on all of these bigger picture items makes my Spanish homework pretty far down on my priorities list (#sorrysenora).

Now I’m currently typing this when I SHOULD probably be studying but hey what’s the fun of it without a little irony. Not really quite sure where this is headed but over-book yourself, have fun, dream big, and accomplish those. No matter how stressed or cram packed your nights may seem, take a look at the bigger picture. I found myself doing this a few minutes ago while i was in the midst of a toughie math problem which I had spent about 35 minutes on when I realized…its 1 problem. 1 problem that right now means the world to me but flash forward 5 years and i betcha i won’t even remember how to do that kind of math. (i wanna be a kindergarten teacher i’m praying numbers up to 100 are all I’m gonna need) Don’t forget that although working hard is a must, don’t forget what you’re working hard for. For me it’s happiness in my success. and success doesn’t have to be an A in every subject. Maybe it means a grade i worked hard for that gets me into college to where I can pursue my dreams. so work, pursue, thrive.
