take time for yourself

I’m laying in my bed under the covers typing this on my phone solely because sometimes I just have this urge in my fingertips to type. I like to call it the “at one point in my life before I realized how few things you can make money with from an English major I wanted to be an English major” syndrome. I’m constantly wanting to write. Which for most of my family that prefers multiple choice math tests, my weird excitement for times essays freaks them out. But for me, it’s my sense of peace and I don’t often give myself enough time for it. Even sometimes blogging gets put on the backburner because of things I feel are more “important” than making my own self happy.

I recently found out my personality type. If you’re familiar with the Myers-Briggs system I am an INFJ. I help myself by helping others, I’m constantly overthinking, and I cry a lot. All of the above are valid so I think the test did me justice. However, sometimes it’s hard to realize the things we AREN’T so good at. For INFJ’s that is realizing that you need to take time for yourself as well. And that sometimes YOU need help, and asking for it is our immense worst nightmare. Being an oldest child, I’m independent. I like to do things on my own and I hate asking for help from others, it makes me feel like I didn’t do my best if I can’t do it myself. however, sometimes it’s working on and realizing these faults that improves us the most.

For me that means working on asking for help. Luckily I have the best friends and support system in the world that I can count on. I take on a heck of a lot of responsibities when there’s times I only NEED to do about 2 or 3 of the things on my to-do list. Whether it be a nap after school or taking a break from working every weekend, finding time for myself is hard but fulfilling. I’ve found that when it comes to myself, I’m the best friend when I’m happy with myself. It’s hard to make your bestie smile when you can’t bring yourself to. You’ve got to refuel yourself before you can go out and love others. So make sure you’re loved. By you.

befree tees

I am overly obsessed with t-shirts. When summer time rolls around, I usually tend to swap out the fleece pajama sets for big t-shirts at bedtime and that time of year is finally approaching again. I am currently in love with BeFreeTees and the whole concept behind their brand. The two moms that started the company wanted to spread the simple message of love through the country and give back to some of their favorite organizations. The money goes to insanely awesome groups such as Girls Empowerment Network (which supports and guides girls to make wise choices as they navigate the unique pressures of girlhood.), Creative Action (which supports the academic, social, and emotional development of young people), and GirlStart (which empowers girls in fields such as science, technology, engineering, and math). I have one of their t-shirts in the grey with seafoam lettering and have not taken it off. I got a medium in the comfort colors brand they use, and it is the softest shirt I own! Not only is it absolutely adorable, but it is comfortable, and spreads the message of love everywhere you go. I highly suggest hitting up their website http://befreetees.com and picking one up for yourself! Also give them that follow on Instagram @befreetees as well to keep up with all their designs! Thank you to BeFreeTees for helping me out with a fab shirt and I couldn’t be more honored to show the world about this crazy cool brand filled with so many inspiring messages. Spread love, anywhere and everywhere you can!

101 in 1001

Goals are crazy important to me. She believed she could so she did seems to be my mindset within the past year, and I am not complaining. Setting goals internally for myself has become such an improvement from my daily night to-do lists. There’s not guilt when you wake up the next morning with a halfway accomplished to-do list, and having it in your mind means it is always able to edit.

I’ve been reading “101 in 1001” lists for quite some time on other fab blogger’s blogs even before I started a blog of my own. I think they’re so super neato and it is so crazy cool to see an individual’s goals and watching them fulfill them. If you have never heard of one, it is basically a bucket list for yourself, but you’re only given 1001 days, or 2.75 years. I started mine on February 25 and it will end November 22, 2018. So, after months of working on it, I’m finally ready to publish my own. It isn’t fully complete, because 101 goals is a heck of a lot, but I will add to it as they come to me! I created a new tab on my blog that you can click on to view the whole list, that is linked HERE. Feel free to comment what would be on YOUR 101 in 1001 list, or if you share some goals with me!! I hope you enjoy and can watch me mark off these dreams over these next 1001 days, because nothing is more satisfying than a good to-do list. The tasks range from huge dreams of mine to simple things I know are going to happen one day. (It’s like the same sense of satisfaction of when i put “shower” on my nightly to-do list.) This one is just glorified, intensified, over-hyped, and extra glittery, like everything in life should be.
